Please help make Rubber City Clothing Akron’s best boutique!  Akron Life & Leisure is holding their sixth annual “Best of Akron” poll.  Categories include the best of entertainment, food, shopping, and services in the greater Akron area. While you’re at it, vote for some of our friends, like Winslow for best local band; Mocha Maiden for best coffee; Musica for best music venue; and more.  Click here to place your vote!

Thanks in advance!  RCC loves Akron and we know Akron loves RCC!

That RCC is pretty awesome!  Here are some of the comments/ words of adoration we’ve been getting:

You guys are truly beautiful.  Go Akron!”-J, USA

“I received my hoodie today.  Thanks for shipping it out so quickly.  It looks great.  Extra thanks for the copy of the Cleveland Scene.  As you probably guessed, I am a Pretenders fan and that’s how I first heard about the RCC brand.  Pretenders related or not, I’ve come to love the RCC brand.  The logo itself is sharp and the designs are cool and original–and somewhat quirky out here in San Diego…though I did get spotted wearing my Route 8 hoodie by a stranger and was asked if I was from Akron.  I’ve been complimented and asked about my RCC stuff a few times now.  Keep up the great work.”- E, CA

“Just wanted to tell you I got my T shirt and I love it! Thanks so much and I’ll spread the word around around Chicago to my other A-kron friends.”- S, IL

“Sarah, it was great to meet you and see first hand the fine retail establishment that RCC is. Thanks again for all of the great work you do and I loved being part of Akron, if only for a day.”- R, NY

RCC will carry The Pretenders official tour merchandise both in-store and in our online store. Only the concerts will have more official Pretenders tour swag then we do!

Akron native and active RCC supporter Chrissie Hynde and her band are breaking up the concrete and rockin’ across America this winter. To commemorate their first nationwide tour in over 5 years, RCC has got official tour hoodies, t-shirts (for both men & women), knit hats, belt buckles, pins, stickers , and even boy-short panties! Aside from the merch stand at each show, Rubber City Clothing is the only place to get the new official Pretenders gear.

Click here to buy online or come to our retail store in Downtown Akron to get your Pretenders fix!

A friend of mine has a great blog up in Believeland Cleveland called Believeland Blogs.  It’s mostly about sports and the chance that someday, just someday a Cleveland team will win a championship.

We were lucky enough to get a mention on today’s posting:

Always wear a Rubber in Believeland and in Akron.

Gotta love blog comradery!

We are currently getting a very, very much needed upgrade to our online store.  Unfortunately, that means error messages for anyone trying to shop.  Our guys working on it are trying to get it done as quickly as possible.  In the meantime, shop at our lovely retail location in Downtown Akron; call 330.434.4722 to place an order; or email me at sgorring@rubbercityclothing.com with questions/concerns/rants/raves.

I’ll let you know when everything is up and running again!

Happy Valentine’s Day Akron!

Love you!

Cleveland Fox 8’s morning show, That’s Life with Robin Swoboda is airing a special on the best places to go in Ohio’s most charmingly cool city. I’m obviously talking about Akron, and of course RCC is one of the best places to visit!

See us this Monday, February 16th at 10am. Along with us, some of our great neighbors like WE Gallery, Mocha Maiden, Uncorked, Musica, and Noto; as well as Don Drumm & West Point Market will be featured.

This is going to show that Akron is waaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy more than Cleveland’s little sister to the south. I’ll get the video up asap. Catch it live (or DVR/Tivo…if you must).

Akron WITNESSED First is everywhere!  Check it out on the cover of Cleveland’s Scene Magazine this week!

We had previously been out of stock in certain sizes, but we will have

everything back in this Friday, the 13th!  Click here to pre-order.

Special Edition colors are coming soon!

The Historic Northside District is by far the most hip and up-and-coming neighborhood in Akron.  It’s the hub of the arts, music, shopping and going-out scene in Downtown Akron.  Galleries like WE Gallery, Urban Canvas, and the newly moved City Art are providing a home for Akron’s most creative artists; Musica and The Northside showcase great local (and some national) music acts; Rubber City Clothing and Noto are keeping Akronites dressed to impress (who isn’t impressed- and a little scared- by a “Where the Weak are Killed and Eaten” shirt?); and Crave, Big City Chophouse, Luigi’s, and Snooks remain some of Akron’s best places to eat (though we could use a Swenson’s down here- I’m thinking across from RCC on High St).  Plus, we’ve got the Akron Art Museum and the Akron Public Library’s Main Branch on our turf.

Come to our little neck of the woods this Saturday, February 7th from 5 until 10ish (whenever everyone else starts to leave, really) for the monthly Art Walk.  All of the galleries and shops will be open with extended hours to host patrons of the arts (and anyone looking for something a li’l different to do on a Saturday night).  The weather has been pretty mild for February, so get out and enjoy Akron’s cultural scene!  In addition, our backdoor neighbors Mocha Maiden Gallery and Uncorked Wine Bar will be hosting an open house for the newly moved and renovated space.  Enter off of Maiden Lane (by the Mocha Maiden entrance) or come in off of North High St (you can enter through the gallery’s front door, WE Gallery, or Rubber City Clothing.  Hope to see you there (and pick up an RCC shirt while you’re at it!)!

Very exciting news for your favorite Akron t-shirt shop!!!  We will be making our television debut (without the help of the famous Ms. Hynde) sometime next week!  More details to come soon so check back!
