Our Beloved Margaret - She was born to WEAR RCC !
This rugged beauty is our our No.1 RCC celebrity model. Technically, she is a 1965 Series IIa Land Rover. But you can call her Margaret. We’ve heard Ed calling her other names sometimes, but that’s a different story. Old vehicles can bring out the best in their owners vocabulary.
Margaret was naked for several years, but recently decided to start wearing RCC gear. And she has expressed no interest in ever taking it off.
There has been a nasty rumor that Margaret gets around. We want to take this opportunity to clarify the point. Margaret doesn’t get around as much as she gets us around ! Margaret is a mover and a shaker - a real rover. An original classic Land Rover, that is.
She hails from the time when Land Rover got its reputation for exceptional durability and ruggedness. Everything nowadays is over-engineered and over-complicated. Margaret is the kind of truck that Brits and Aussie’s would drive across continents and back again. Today’s LRs would be lucky to make it across town and back without blowing a gasket, getting a chip in the precious paint job or, worst of all, spilling a drop of the decaf no foam skinny latte on the Sahara tan interior ! Don’t even get us started on the need for a GPS system. Margaret smirks at those little black boxes. A good map and a flashlight is all she needs.
Margaret, we like to think, is a lot like the Rubber City and her namesake apparel. No nonsense sensibilities wrapped up in a retro-cool but performance-minded shell. Hard to keep down but easy on the eyes. A modern tribute to what once was and what could be again.
Look for a new RCC design coming out near Christmas 2008 that bears Margaret’s likeness - with her headlights on !
