The Chief Source 2009 Year In Review from Kyle Kutuchief on Vimeo.

While checking out a friend’s Facebook page, I noticed he had a website listed, www.thechiefsource.com.  I clicked the link to check it out & found something truly awesome.  The Chief Source is an Akron based photo-blog, sharing cool people and places in Akron via really great pictures. Above is a great video showing some of the photos taken for the blog in 2009.

Make sure you check out The Chief Source! Really puts the Bullsheet to shame….But that’s what we like about Akron- so many really creative, cool people doing different things.  Looking forward to their coverage of 2010!

Thanks AK2NY!

A local fashion blogger has given us a little shout out on her blog, AK2NY:

hometown shoutout: are you ak proud?

November 25, 2009 · Leave a Comment

I have to give my hometown some serious love. Akronites are so proud of our great city for many reasons. The ‘Rubber City’ isn’t just known for LeBron James (but we are very thankful that he has put us on the map). We’re known for being the beating heart of the rubber industry, the home of the Goodyear Blimp, and home of the first space suit. We’re also the birthing city of the automobile police patrol wagon (please send us a thank you note when you’ve been pulled over) and home of the Soap Box Derby. I could go on forever about this place, but I’ll let your curiosity lead you to Google later on! Born and raised in Akron, I find myself bragging about & defending this place if somebody dares to be unfamiliar with my town. Cleveland, what? The AK is something to be proud of.

I remember my first Akron shirt that I bought in 2004. It was baby pink and across the front  spelled the great word “AKRON”, with a tire replacing the letter “O”. The phenomenon of Rubber City Clothing took it’s first baby steps with other catchy shirts like “Save Rolling Acres” soon after. Five years later, Rubber City Clothing has taken over the Akron apparel industry (or started it) with creating a shirt that any Akronite can relate to. In this day & age, if you live in Akron, you have a shirt from RCC. Here’s some great examples of Rubber City Clothing’s merchandise:

-Rubber City Clothing’s website is: http://www.rubbercityclothing.com

-I hope to cover not only more of RCC in general, but each designer carried in the store.

-If you want to rep your city’s apparel, tell me your story! Leave a comment.

If you live in Akron, head to RCC to pick up some awesome gifts.

Does anyone know how to decrease the amount of SPAM you receive? The Bullsheet has been getting hit with hundreds of SPAM comments each day. Please let us know! Thanks!

#200

I sat here for the last 10 minutes or so trying to think of a post.  There are certainly a lot of events to write about, new products, and more.  But clicking around the maintenance portion of the blog site, I saw that we have 199 posts, and this one you are currently reading is #200!  I believe #100 came sometime in April.  We’ll have 300 by the end of the year!  Enjoy the bullsheet to come!

Okay, this is one of those times where the topic really has nothing to do with RCC or Akron, but it does deal with the Bullsheet, so I suppose it is relevant.  Today’s topic is ’spam’.  Not the slimy canned ham (though I do want to know what is the point of that- I think I’d starve first), but I’m talking about internet junk.  Everyone gets it in their email, and luckily most email servers have ‘junk’ folders to filter this crap out so you can just delete.  My ’spam’ problem comes within the Bullsheet, this fine blog you are reading.  Each day we get about 50-75 comments- which is great- but usually 99% of those are spam.  Most of them are about 50 lines and pure gibberish.  A lot of them are ‘See Paris Hilton Nude’ or some other celebrity naked (I’m pretty sure the Miley Cyrus ones are a felony).  But then some are slightly deceiving, and will say things like “Great post.  I’m glad I found your website.”; then followed by “Best Regards, Asian Tranny Hookers”.  Come on.  Who is out there in the world putting this stuff together?  I can sort of understand the porn stuff, because there is an audience for that.  But what about the gibberish and the faux comments?  What is the point of taking the time to do that?  I barely have time to do things like laundry let alone coming up with fake blog appreciation from fake prostitutes.  Let’s stop doing useless stuff and start doing things to better society.  I have to go delete a few dozen nonsensical messages.
