A very important anniversary was overlooked by us last week! The first birthday of the Rubber City Bullsheet! July 28, 2008 marked the first posting of Bullsheet by Ed giving a little rundown of what was to come. Ed took the wheel for the next couple of posts. My (Sarah) first post came exactly one year ago today (so today seems fitting for this post). I wrote about going to the Radiohead show at Blossom. Looking back, it certainly wasn’t my best work. I’d never written a blog post before, had trouble loading the image, and certainly didn’t have any personality in it. In the past year, I’d like to think that my writing/blogging has improved a little. Hopefully I’ve made you laugh, I once made myself cry, and I know I’ve ticked a couple of people off over blog time. While it’s all a load of Bullsheet, we still want you to enjoy it.

Okay, this is kind of lame, but I just realized that my last post was #100. Since August ‘08, we’ve done 100 posts! This makes 101!!!
We are very excited that a lot of Akron is getting tuned into the Bullsheet! It’s great to hear all around town that people have read this humble little blog. Please, please, please leave us some comments! We would love to get some feedback!
Here’s a response to a blog we wrote the other day on our friend Adam from Random Thoughts Escaping:

¡ VIVA LA RUBBERUCIÓN !
I’m a fan of Rubber City Clothing. I love the concept as much as the execution. I have my “Akron Witnessed First” and “Akron: Where the Weak are Killed and Eaten” postcards up on the wall in my office. My friend Dave named his new band The Marble Champs in part after one of the RCC logos. And Chrissie Hynde decided to go though RCC as the official retailer for the Pretenders’ 2009 tour merchandise.
I met Sarah, the general manager of RCC, a few weeks back when we were picking up a “Route 8″ t-shirt for the kiddo at the High Street location, and struck up a conversation. What’s even cooler is that not only did Sarah post a little something about Deus ex Comica on the Rubber City BullSheet, but she agreed to stock a few copies of the book or at least display some promotional stuff for the book in the store when it’s ready to go!
So check out the blog, check out the store, buy some cool 330 swag and support a uniquely Northeast Ohio enterprise.
I went to school for fashion. I’m not much of a writer (though in my own mind I think that if I tried I’d naturally be really good at it); and I’m certainly not a “blogger.” I humbly write random updates of RCC stuff and things around Akron that I think are really cool, but blogging… it is not. I do try my best, and often take inspiration from writers and bloggers I come across. A couple of weeks ago, I met an Akron writer/blogger, Adam Besenyodi. He turned me onto his blog, Random Thoughts Escaping. It is exactly as the title states, discussing anything from comic books to classic films to drawings by his young son.
Adam will soon be releasing his first book, Deus ex Comica: The Rebirth of a Comic Book Fan. It is a self-published book about the Marvel comics of his childhood in the 80s and his rediscovery twenty years later. We’ll post ordering info once the book is available for sale and hopefully have a few copies for sale at RCC.
