This past Saturday was Meet the Artists day at Made in Akron in Highland Square. It was a really amazing day of really talented artists, devoted Akronites, and a lot of local pride. Over twenty artists set up booths to showcase their unique pieces and meet their fans & people interested in what they’re doing. There was a really great turn out, a few hundred people passed through the doors of the little shop on South Highland Ave. Here are some pics from the day:

This Saturday afternoon head over to Made in Akron in Highland Square for a unique art event! From 11am-3:30pm, you can meet some of the amazing artists that showcase their work at Made in Akron, our wonderful sister store. Artisans of jewelry, mosaics, paintings, screen-prints, photography, t-shirts, stencil art, and more will be on hand to show new pieces and discuss their artistic process.
This event is a great way to support local arts, local business, and meet some really cool Akronites. In case of rain, the event will take place Sunday, August 30th, same time.
For more information on this event, please call Elizabeth at Made in Akron, 330.535.4774.
Scarlet GoDancin' with her bust done by Leandra Drumm
Our good friends the NEO Rock n’ Roller Girls are busting out for the greater good. Some of the girls had casts made of their busts, which were then decorated by some amazing local artists including Catherine Cartwright-Jones (my college visual teacher) and Leandra Drumm, among other greats. The busts are currently on display at WE Gallery (our lovely neighbor) and will be auctioned off at Bustapalooza- their August 29th Bout vs. OHRG Gang Green. 100% of the proceeds will go to Stewart’s Caring Place- a Fairlawn based non-profit that aids cancer patients and offers support to their families. It is truly amazing what these busts stand for. Not only are they incredible one of a kind pieces of art, but they are important in raising awareness, money, and support in the fight against cancer.
Bustapalooza is Saturday, August 29th at the Summit County Fairgrounds. Doors are at 5, bout begins at 6. I went to my first bout a couple of months ago, and it is a good time. This upcoming bout will certainly be one to see!

Come to RCC this Saturday evening (May 2nd) to see some great new local rock! The Marble Champs will be playing live in-store from about 7pm-8:30pm. This is a FREE show; and also the same night as the monthly Downtown Artwalk- so there will be lots to do and see!
We are very excited to have The Marble Champs play our first (of many, we plan) live music show in our newly expanded space. Their name was inspired by one of our designs, The Marble Champ (for the Toy Marble Museum at Lock 3); and we in turn were inspired by them and other great local bands to start showcasing Akron music in-store.
Come downtown this Saturday for great local art, music, and t-shirts!
We would like to officially welcome Made In Akron to the Rubber City! Made In Akron is a new locally owned/operated retail store in Highland Square featuring products MADE IN AKRON.
